Philips Brilliance 329P9H 4K Monitor Review

So you’re looking for a new monitor to declutter and modernise your workspace at home or in your office. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that we’re capable of working from home. We’ve had to change our ways of working and, although completely necessary, it’s not been easy. It’s clear that we need the perfect home office set up to make sure our productivity doesn’t dwindle. Bit hard in the midst of a global pandemic, we know.
But having the right technology to hand makes a huge difference – including a super shiny new monitor that makes the idea of working from home more enticing. No matter what field you work in – whether it’s ecommerce, retail, accounting or advertising – having a reliable monitor that helps you multitask and see jobs clearer can help boost productivity and your motivation while working. Working from a laptop screen can affect your posture and cause eye strain. Your wellbeing can also be improved by having a high-performance monitor.
We tried out the Philips Brilliance 329P9H 4K monitor and this is what we thought.
Key features of the Philips Brilliance 32" 4K monitor
Let’s start with the key features and delve into them as we go along.
- Brilliant performance
- UltraClear 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution for precision
- IPS technology for full colours and wide viewing angles
- Built-in USB-C docking station
- Built-in KVM switch to easily switch between sources
- Designed for the way you work
UltraClear 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution

This Philips display utilises high-performance panels to deliver UltraClear 4K UHD resolution. So it doesn’t matter whether you need extremely detailed images for CAD solutions or you’re a financial wizard working on huge spreadsheets. Your images and graphics will come alive on the screen. Unlike standard TN panels, IPS displays gives you remarkably crisp images with vivid colours. They’re ideal for your own home entertainment like photos, films and web browsing, but also for professional applications that demand colour accuracy and consistent brightness at all times.
These days we have about 50 tabs open and we’re hopping from one to the other. This makes it really hard to focus on tasks at hand. We liked the MultiView feature which lets you have up to four systems on one screen. You can also use multiple devices like two notebooks side-by-side simultaneously, making collaboration more productive.
Built-in USB-C docking station

The Philips 32” monitor has brilliant connectivity and it’s easy to set up. The built-in USB type-C docking station with power delivery allows for easy, one-cable docking. It keeps it simple when it comes to connecting all your peripherals, like your keyboard, mouse and your RJ-45 Ethernet cable to the monitor's docking station. You can simply connect your notebook to this monitor with a single USB-C cable to watch high-resolution video and transfer super-speed data while powering up and recharging your notebook at the same time. You can just turn it on and go.
Pop-up webcam with Windows Hello™

Now more than ever, we've realised how important it is to have the right working from home set up. We've had to collaborate with colleagues over Zoom and Teams calls for the past year. Although restrictions are lifting, it's changed the way we'll work in the future.
Philips' innovative and secure 1080p webcam with a microphone pops up when you need it and securely tucks back into the monitor when you’re not using it. The webcam is also equipped with advanced sensors for Windows Hello™ facial recognition, which conveniently logs you into your Windows devices in less than 2 seconds, 3 times faster than a password. When you’re done, it can be tucked away easily.

SmartErgoBase

The SmartErgoBase is a monitor base that delivers ergonomic display comfort and provides cable management. The user-friendly height, swivel, tilt and rotation angle adjustments of the base allow the monitor to be positioned for maximum comfort to help ease the physical strains of a long workday. In addition, cable management reduces cable clutter and keeps the workspace neat and professional.
Energy-saving solution
The built-in PowerSensor is a 'people sensor' that transmits and receives harmless infrared signals to determine if the user is there and automatically reduces monitor brightness when you step away from the desk, cutting energy costs by up to 70 percent and prolonging monitor life. As well as this, it also comes with 100% recyclable packaging material and is made with 85% post-consumer recycled plastic for the environment conscious amongst us.
Wellbeing is also an important consideration of work-life. Would you think a monitor could affect wellbeing? This monitor features LowBlue Mode for easy-on-the-eyes productivity. Studies have shown that just as ultra-violet rays can cause eye damage, shortwave-length blue light rays from LED displays can cause eye damage and affect vision over time. Developed for wellbeing, the Philips LowBlue Mode setting uses a smart software technology to reduce harmful shortwave blue light.
Final thoughts
We can’t fault this monitor. It does what it says on the tin, and even more. The USB-C connectivity is a game-changer for those who want their peripherals connected in a way that reduces the fuss of wires creating the modern workspace we’re all after. The 4K UHD graphics bring work to life and the detail is brilliant for movies and shows as well. The perfect all-rounder, without taking up too much workspace.
